Larsson seeking new Blues deal

Birmingham midfielder Sebastian Larsson has reopened talks about a new contract with the Barclays Premier League newcomers.

But the Sweden international insists he is in no rush to sign a new deal until something is agreed "that is right for myself and the club."

Larsson, who has 10 months left of his current deal plus a 12-month option, said: "We have started discussions again. Everyone knows there was a contract on the table at the beginning of last year. But it wasn't the right time or circumstances for me to talk about a new contract."

He added: "I wanted to see where we were going. But if people think I am sitting and stalling on a deal in front of me, I'm not doing that at the moment.

"Hopefully the club and myself want the same thing. I like to take it nice and slow and not rush into anything, to just focus on the football.

"I think the club are comfortable with that as well. If we want the same thing, then I am sure it will be sooner rather than later."

Larsson continued: "If it suited me, I'd be happy to sign. I haven't talked about the contract situation too much and you can never avoid speculation.

"Hopefully, we can agree something but I don't want to rush into anything and neither do the club.

"But if they are going to commit to me and I'm going to commit to them for a long period of time, then it has got to be right for both of us."
