Danny Shittu has rejected a loan move to Sheffield United, according to Bolton manager Gary Megson.
The 6'3" Nigeria defender (pictured) is out of favour at the Reebok, has not made a first-team appearance this season and had been linked with moves all summer.
"I spoke to Sam Ellis (United assistant manager) a few times and it was put to Danny he could go there if he wanted for a month's football and could have played six games," Megson told Sky Sports.
"I felt it would have been good for everybody, but Danny didn't want to - which is his prerogative - so he has not gone."
Former Charlton and Queens Park Rangers defender Shittu, 29, joined the Trotters from Watford last season and has 15 caps for the Super Eagles.

Killgallon will recover and remain a BLADE,the Wendies were totally outclassed in the first half of the steel city deby on friday.Blackwell should have brought on Quinn for Treacy a lot earlier. The Wendies midfield would have been stifled earlier then and they would not have scored their two. However anyone looks at that match;THE BLADES BEAT THE OWLS 3-2. So Wendies, please do not come out with your usual'fantasy-based' excuses. You are just a mid table Championship club and NOTHING ELSE.

Ronnie killa's not going anywere mate.
He said he would nt play for a S H I T team like the blunts
chrisbetts, rumour is he wants to move back to london, that's why he won't consider moving to the Blades, but if no london club makes an offer for him soon he's going to join Ipswich. He'll be a good signing for you, we (Sheff United) could definately do with him as we're really struggling in the centre of defence with Killgallon supposedly on the move and no cover for him!.
is it true he going to ipswich i hope so we need a lplayer like him now
