John Higgins and Judd Trump both enjoyed victories as the second set of Premier League fixtures took place in Great Malvern.

Higgins beat Shaun Murphy 4-2 in a repeat of last year's World Championship final while Trump then got the first Premier League win of his career by beating Stephen Hendry by the same scoreline.

Higgins edged the first frame of his match with Murphy before the Englishman levelled. Both players had 53 breaks in the next but Higgins took it to go 2-1 up.

A 58 in the next frame guaranteed Higgins at least a draw but Murphy gave himself a chance of picking up a point with a 72 break in the fifth.

However, Higgins sealed the victory thanks to a 61 break in the final frame.

Trump did not pot a ball for two-and-half frames against Hendry but still managed to earn his first win.

Hendry opened with a 104 and he went 2-0 up with a break of 57 and a clearance of 68 in the second.

He also produced a 51 break in the third frame but Trump came back to sneak that one and get into the match.

The Bristol potter then never looked back. A scrappy fourth frame made it 2-2 and then breaks of 103 and 88 helped him secure the win.

It was an important win for Trump as he was the only player on the night who had played the first week in Penrith where he lost 4-2 to Neil Robertson.
