The Russian international broke his jaw and suffered concussion during Sunday's derby against Spartak when he collided with opposing striker Welliton.

"Such injuries usually take six months to heal," chief surgeon Alexei Drobyshev he said.

"He has received a crushing blow to the head and we're not sure how his brain would react during heavy training. The good news for Gabulov is that he should fully recover by the start of the new season in Russia in March 2010."

Gabulov, Russia's second-choice keeper behind Igor Akinfeyev, will miss the final two World Cup qualifiers at home to Germany and away to Azerbaijan next month.
