The 30-year-old, who played 11 Tests for the Springboks between 1999 and 2007, has signed a two-year deal with the European side.

He was part of the 2007 World Cup-winning squad in France, but did not play any games, while he featured in one match at the 1999 finals against Spain.

The former Cheetahs, Lions and Eagles midfielder began his career with Boland in 1999 and went on to represent the Bulls, Cats and Stormers in Super Rugby - presently the Super 14.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank Wayne for his huge contribution over the last couple of seasons and wish him all the best with his career abroad," read a statement on the Bulls' website, www.thebulls.co.za.
