Dodd debut ends in defeat

Jason Dodd's first game in charge of Aldershot went from dream to disaster in two second-half minutes as his side were beaten 3-2 by Bury

The former Southampton defender could only watch in horror as quickfire goals from Stephen Dawson and Efe Sodje ended the Shots' unbeaten home record.

It was a dream start for Dodd when striker Scott Donnelly's shot was deflected into the path of Dave Winfield, who was left with an easy tap in after just nine minutes

Aldershot could have doubled their lead midway through the first-half when Wayne Brown brought down Marvin Morgan in the area, but the Bury goalkeeper made amends by saving Morgan's penalty.

Brian Barry-Murphy's deflected free-kick then brought Bury level in the 39th minute after Tom Elliott was brought down on the edge of the area.

Louie Soares put the home back in front in the 71st minute when he slotted past Wayne Brown with a deft finish.

But Dawson levelled again for the visitors two minutes later when he smashed home from close range.

And things went from bad to worse for the Shots when Sodje headed home a Barry-Murphy cross just two minutes later to seal the three points for the visitors.
