Macclesfield manager Keith Alexander watched his young side win 2-1 at Cheltenham and insisted they will only get better in the coming months.
Goals from Ricky Sappleton and John Rooney put the Silkmen in control at the break and Elvis Hammond's 69th-minute strike proved no more than consolation for the Robins.
Alexander said: "We have come and battled very well and deserved the win.
"John Rooney scored with a good strike but we took him off because they were throwing all the big guns on. We had to contend with that and do what was right for the team.
"This side is certainly getting better there were six players aged under 20 in that team. There's a lot of potential but that means nothing if you dont get results and that's what we've got to try and do.
"They put the pressure on us in the second half. They put six big ones on and chucked the ball into the box. You have to defend that and sometimes you cant play the football you want to."
