Dale coast to victory
Grimsby fell to their fourth league defeat on the trot as confident Rochdale strolled to a comfortable 2-0 victory at Blundell Park.
The goals came from Adam Rundle in the 24th minute and Chris O'Grady with five minutes remaining, while Grimsby's Josh Magennis hit the bar late on.
The Mariners went close early on when Peter Bore hauled the ball back to Adrian Forbes, who scooped a right foot shot over the bar.
Rochdale then dominated and went ahead when Chris Dagnall played in Rundle, who wrong-footed the defence before slotting home with his left foot.
O'Grady hammered a volley just wide and Nick Colgan saved at the feet of Simon Whaley as Rochdale looked to extend their lead.
Grimsby went close to an equaliser when Bore pulled the ball back for Magennis but his right foot pile- driver hit the bar.
Rochdale made the game safe when O'Grady picked up a clearance on the edge of the box and saw his right-foot shot deflect home past Colgan.

Promises, promises but yet more failure by Grimsby Town. Every day in the Grimsby Telegraph have we been promised shake ups, turn rounds, better results etc . etc. For the past four or five years the fans have been asked to get behind the Mariners, which they have and then come a new season we are served up with the same old rubbish. Time to go non league I think.
