Harry Redknapp has a message for any Portsmouth fans who blame him for the financial meltdown at the club: "It's not my fault."
The Tottenham manager returns to Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon for the first time since his move to White Hart Lane 12 months ago. He is likely to receive a volatile reception from sections of the Portsmouth supporters.
But Redknapp, who won the FA Cup with Portsmouth last year, believes he has no case to answer. Redknapp said: "Without what I did financially they wouldn't be there. I bought players and sold them for massive profits."
He added: "The wages they earned was nothing to do with me. I have no input into that.
"Lassana Diarra cost £7.5million including his wages and they got £22million for him. All I did was make them money. If they hadn't had such an astute manager who was so good in the transfer market they would have been skint.
"There was no money coming in from the owner. The only thing which kept them going was the buying and selling of players.
"Everyone goes on about Pompey being £35million or £40million in debt but that has nothing to do with me. That's to do with the people who handle the finances at the club."

i dont care, time to move on. hARRY IS NOW THE ENEMY and thats the way all other teams look at each other. Scumhampton will be in the conference soon, playing eastleigh 2nds on sunday at the spartans ground, in front of two old men and a dog, or his wife if he comes from portswood
Get off Harry's back, he is one of the few honest Managers in this country.
Pompey won the FA Cup last season under Harry, what and when had they won anything before his he was there manager?.
As a Football fan I really hope Pompey V Spurs is a good match, and the Pompey fans would do well to remember what Harry did for them and not blame him for the mess they are in now. From MAN U Fan
Harry Redknapp is right and all the moaning minnies have no case at Portsmouth, he made them profits on their transfers, but in the the end got a better deal from a more financially solid club, Tottenham were in trouble in the EPL and got a good man to get them out of it. No players stay around if their club is not cutting the mustard, and Pompey supporters should remember you are the only team outside the usual top 4 to win the FA Cup this century, so why villify the manager who gave you those bragging rights. I would settle for that at the Lane.
I hope Spurs win today but also want to see Pompey survive in the EPL.

Get over yourself redknapp........pompey doesnt need your input any more, and most of us have moved on....its not all about you...anyway whats the cups of tea like at chichester police station lol
seems to have a very good knowledge of the profit side of the club and the deals, yet "that had nothing to do with him" in his words, bit of double duplicity I feel. Pompey got £5m for him, how much did he cost the club and did they make a profit from his sale, how much did SOL C cost over the years he was there plus a few others I can think of, come on Harry be honest you ran cos the funding was going, (Not your fault the crunch came at the time.) and you could not stand dropping down from what you had achieved, you should have trusted the fans they still at that time would have supported you and the club...Life is about ups and downs, there is enough blame culture and deceit in football today, Respect is a word thats just thrown around with no real meaning.
