Jamie McCombe has been given the all-clear after suffering a facial injury in Bristol City's 2-2 home draw against Nottingham Forest.

The 25-year-old, who suffered a fractured cheekbone following a collision with Derby defender Claude Davis in the 1-1 draw between the two sides at Ashton Gate in August, was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure on Saturday and scans revealed there was no repeat of the injury he sustained earlier in the season.

"The good news is there is no fracture," City boss Gary Johnson told the club's official website. "We were certainly worried given what happened to Jamie before."

Meanwhile, Johnson revealed he expects to have Louis Carey back for the trip to Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Captain Carey has been sidelined for over a month with toe and knee problems but will play for the reserves against Plymouth on Tuesday. Johnson said: "We should have Louis back at Palace."
