Striker Dave Kitson is hoping to steer Middlesbrough back into the promotion picture are joining on loan from Stoke for two months.

Boro have slipped to 10th in the Championship - three points adrift of a play-off place - following a run of just two wins in nine games.

Kitson is the second striker to join on loan since the arrival of manager Gordon Strachan following the capture of Marcus Bent from Birmingham.

Kitson, who could make his debut in the home Championship clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, told the club`s official website: "I`m happy to be here and excited to be part of it.

"I`ll do my best and hopefully that will be enough to keep the club in the top positions."
