Wed, 17 Dec 17:07:00 2008

Kicking off the WSF World Rookie Tour, the legendary world-series for under-18 athletes, is the Protest World Rookie Fest. The renowned event attracts the best youngsters from Scandinavia, Australia and New Zealand, North America, Asia and South and East Europe to the first chapter of a saga all international talent scouts have been eagerly awaiting for one year: The Conquer of the Snowboard Age. The event will be held in Livigno and provides a serious challenge to contestants, pushing them beyond anything they have achieved in the past. Not only do the rookies participate on the slopes, but they are also encouraged to get involved in courses on environmental education, sponsored by Mountain Riders. A hugely appealing aspect of the event is the chance to exexperience first-hand what it means to be a professional snowboarder: riders will be engaged in video and photo shootings, becoming protagonists of an official TV production and will also meet international team managers and professionals in the field. Over 100 competitors have been pre-selected from 15 different countries through regional heats, pushing the event onto the world stage. It has become the most prominent youth event, showcasing up and coming talent from the snowboarding scene. The riders will be split into two male and female categories: Rookie, those who were born between 1 January 1991 and 31 December 1993, and Grom, who were born after January 1, 1994. If youre interested in the stars of tomorrow, then this is the event to watch.
