Dramatic reprieve saves Darlington
Darlington have been saved from liquidation at the 11th hour after a rescue group pledged £50,000 to ensure their survival for the next three games.
Administrator Harvey Madden told the playing staff and manager Craig Liddle that the club had folded at 12pm, only for the Darlington Football Club Rescue Group to arrive at the Northern Echo Arena with fresh funds.
Madden then staged a meeting with representatives from the Rescue Group and at 3pm it was announced the club's future would be secured until the end of January.
Steve Weeks, a member of the Rescue Group, said: "The group have come up with a sum of money that the administrator accepted to enable the club to continue until January 31 which gives the Rescue Group the chance to carry out due diligence with appropriate care required for the emergence of a community-based club.
"Fans have to realise this is just the beginning and we now need their support more than ever. If this town really wants a football club, now is the time to show how much they care."

They should not be allowed to carry out this Plan....They have cheated Creditors before and look like doing it again...Middlesborough did the same leaving Millions of £ unpaid to Creditors and were allowed to continue
Money in football has gone mad. It will start with clubs like Darlington and end with clubs like Man Utd
