Northampton's Adebayo Akinfenwa paid tribute to his team-mates after the incredible start to his Cobblers career continued against Gillingham. The former Swansea striker capped his first start for the club with his third and fourth goals as Stuart Gray's side handed out a 4-0 thrashing to the Gills.
Akinfenwa currently averages a goal every 30.5 minutes in a claret shirt but insists that he owes his team-mates for giving him the chances.
He said: "Things are going well for me at the moment and long may that continue but the most important thing is the team.
"My confidence is improving with every game but I wouldn't be scoring goals if it wasn't for the players around me.
"My match fitness still isn't quite there but I'm clear of my injury now so it will just keep on improving with every game I play."
