Federici set for Beijing action

Mon 18 Feb, 03:30 PM

Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici could be handed a place in Australia's squad for the Olympic Games in Beijing later this year. However, the Royals shot-stopper admits he would face a tough choice, if selected, as the tournament runs from August 6 to 24, meaning he would miss the start of next season.

Federici told the club's official website: "I have an interesting decision to make soon - the Olympic Games are coming up and I have had a few phone calls about that, letting me know that I am in contention.

"Although I turned 23 recently, I am still classed as an Under-23 player so I am eligible for my country in Beijing.

"But it plays through August, so I would miss a few games at Reading. I have some decisions to make, decisions I want to make wisely."
