Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld is expecting an emotional farewell when he leaves the club in May, when he feels the "tears will flow".The 59-year-old's second spell in charge of Bayern comes to an end on May 17 when Hertha Berlin visit the Allianz Arena on the final day of the season.
He hopes to bow out with his sixth Bundesliga title before quitting the Bavarian giants to take up a new role as coach of the Switzerland team.
"I often have to fight back tears," he admitted in the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. "Winning championships and cups is always something special, but I have no fear of tears. It is possible that the tears will flow."
Jurgen Klinsmann has been appointed as his successor and should inherit a team which is capable of matching anybody in Europe, according to Hitzfeld.
"I want to depart with titles and leave behind a team which is ready to challenge for the Champions League title," he added.
Hitzfeld is not the only one to be reaching the end of an era at Bayern and he predicts it will also be an emotional end for veteran goalkeeper Oliver Kahn when he retires in the summer.
He said: "We share the same destiny and will do all we can to make it a beautiful ending.
"We have been in so many battles, won titles and also lost finals.
"That will keep us attached forever."
Hitzfeld and Kahn are still on track for silverware this season.
They lead the Bundesliga by three points from Werder Bremen and are in the quarter-finals of the German Cup and last 32 of the UEFA Cup, where they face Aberdeen on Thursday.
