Wycombe manager Paul Lambert insisted that he "never considered" dropping captain David McCracken from his side. The centre-half has not been in the best form since returning from a calf injury and his late handball led to Bury equalising in midweek.
But McCracken responded by heading in the only goal as the Chairboys returned to winning ways against Rotherham to leave Lambert delighted.
He said: "David has responded in the right way and has shown great character.
"That is why I made him captain and I never considered taking him out of the side.
"He has real leadership qualities and topped it off with a huge goal for us."
