Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan has signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal at the City Ground to tie him to the Reds until 2011.The 19-year-old has established himself as a first-team regular under Colin Calderwood this season.

"There was no hesitation in my mind that I wanted to sign a new contract when Forest offered it to me," he told the club's official website.

"I can't ask for any more than having the security of a long-term deal behind me as I look to progress my career at the club.

"When I got myself in the side towards the end of last season my aim was to show people that I deserved an opportunity at that level.

"I would like to think I've done that - now I've got three years to really cement my place in the manager's plans and try to help push the club on."
