Grimsby defender Tom Newey has been ruled out of his side Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area Final first leg clash at Morecambe.Newey was forced out of the action in Saturday's 4-1 home defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge with a bruised foot and will sit out the first leg at Christie Park.

Ryan Bennett stepped off the bench to cover for Newey and is expected to continue in his absence.

Danny Boshell remains sidelined with the thigh strain that ruled him out over the weekend, so Paul Bolland will resume his place in midfield.

Manager Alan Buckley is expected to refrain from making many tactical changes after seeing his side's 11-game unbeaten run emphatically ended by lowly Dagenham.
