Okocha: I can make Tigers roar

Mon 18 Feb, 12:15 PM

Hull City midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha is thriving on the pressure to help manager Phil Brown's side claim a top-six Championship finish. The Tigers are currently two places and four points adrift of the play-off pack with 13 games of the regular season remaining.

And Okocha - who played his first 90 minutes at first-team level since September in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Colchester - is relishing the chance to spearhead the side's late surge for promotion.

"I think good pressure is pressure to achieve something, pressure to know that we are so close to taking this club to another level and for it is a positive pressure," said the 34-year-old. "But we need everyone's help to achieve this."

After numerous injury problems Okocha is now approaching full fitness and has urged the club's supporters to play their part in the latter stages of the campaign.

He added: "I think if I'm fully fit I can give that extra bit that is missing. I think I can bring that final touch to help us become more creative. If we are going to reach our expectations I think that they [the fans] have a very big role to play."
