Peterborough have denied that they have completed a move for Cambridge striker Scott Rendell, who submitted a transfer request on Sunday. The Blue Square Premier club have reported that Rendell has joined Posh on loan and is due to complete a permanent transfer for a six-figure fee in the summer.
Cambridge chairman Philip Law told the club's official website: "We wish Scott well. He's worked hard in his time with us and under Jimmy Quinn's tutelage he has gone from a free transfer to a six-figure fee player.
"Scott has contributed to the success achieved by the current squad but his departure will not be allowed to dent the current campaign."
But a club spokesman at London Road confirmed that Rendell - who has scored 22 goals this season - is away on international duty with the England C squad and has not signed terms with the League Two club.
Should Rendell join Darren Ferguson's side he will be competing with Liam Hatch, Aaron Mclean and Craig Mackail-Smith for a place in attack.
