Mon 18 Feb, 05:30 PM

Peter Ridsdale admitted Cardiff would have preferred a home draw after they were a handed an away trip in the FA Cup quarter-finals.Cardiff will travel to Middlesbrough or Sheffield United after Monday's draw was made.

The Bluebirds reached the last eight of the competition for the first time in 81 years with a 2-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday courtesy of goals from Peter Whittingham and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The Blades and Boro played out a 0-0 draw at Bramall Lane the following day and the winner of their replay will host the Bluebirds on the weekend of March 8/9.

Ridsdale revealed City are simply "grateful" to be in the quarter-finals for what will be the first time since they went on to become the only non-English team to ever lift the trophy.

He told PA Sport: "Our view is very clear and that is we are very grateful to get into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. We do not know who we will be facing yet so we will have to wait and see.

"We always prefer to be at home in the FA Cup as you stand a better chance of winning than if you are away from home, but we are very much looking forward to the tie."
