Mansfield have released five of their youth players after their second-year scholarship contracts expired.Luke Gibbons, Michael Grimoldby, Tom Shaw, Lewis Cracknell and Sam Deas have all left Field Mill.

Head of Youth David Jervis told the club's official website: "This is the worst part of my job.

"The five lads have show great character, but the coaching staff here at Mansfield Town which includes Billy Dearden and Paul Holland, do not believe that those lads have the attributes to make the next step up - and that is the hardest step to make."
