Thirlwell set to make comeback

Mon 18 Feb, 04:45 PM

Carlisle captain Paul Thirlwell could make his second senior appearance in 2008 when fellow high-flyers Nottingham Forest visit Brunton Park.Thirlwell, who is approaching full fitness after overcoming his latest calf injury, was expected to replace the suspended Chris Lumsdon in Saturday's game at Crewe before the fixture fell foul to the weather.

Thirlwell is now in contention to face Forest with Lumsdon banned while the fit-again Scott Dobie is vying for a recall after overcoming a hamstring problem.

Striker Danny Carlton has been heavily involved as a substitute in recent weeks and may again feature as the Blues search for an 11th straight home win in League One.

Victory would also see Ward's men leapfrog over Forest into third spot in the table.

Meanwhile, Carlisle's game at Crewe has been rearranged for Tuesday 26 February with a 7.45pm kick-off at Gresty Road.
