Transfers - Gossip Shop: City want Eto'o

Eurosport - Wed, 18 Feb 22:53:00 2009

Ding ding! Who do we have here? If it isn't the Gossip Shop's best customer, Manchester City, perusing the shelves for the umpteenth time this week, desperate to find a high-price luxury item.

"Mmm...Don't suppose you have a Samuel Eto'o?" asks the furrow-browed City buyer in his hushed Welsh tones.

After failing to bag Kaka, Ronaldinho, David Villa, Pele, Maradona and Eusebio (allegedly), the Premier League's big-spenders are apparently eyeing up Barcelona's Cameroonian international and the price being talked about is a paltry £20 million.

GS would just like to point this out - Eto'o is currently playing for the sexiest team on the planet, with a potential dynasty of success beckoning and silverware 'out the ying-yang' in the offing. And then there's City.

Elsewhere, the Daily Star claims Marseille like the cut of Didier Drogba's jib, which is another deal that looks as likely as David Beckham's Leyton Orient swansong.

Back on planet earth, Manuel Fernandes is flirting outrageously with anyone who will listen in the Premier League and Portsmouth are seriously interested. The Everton midfielder is currently on loan from Valencia, but he's not interested in returning to Spain and wants back in 'The Best League in the World' (TM).

On to Gareth Barry, who is being urged by his Aston Villa team-mate to sign a new deal at the club. GS is praying he puts pen to paper soon, if only to avoid another summer spent tracking his every movement on a daily basis.

Wigan are giving a trial to South Korea international Cho Won-hee, who is a free agent after his contract expired at Suwon Bluewings. According to The Guardian, the midfielder has impressed and could sign a contract next week at the JJB.

Finally, the news that Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia may be resigned to losing Djibril Cisse in the summer and has turned his attentions to Tottenham striker Darren Bent as a potential replacement - with a price of £10m being bandied about.

According to The Daily Mail, Blackburn, Everton and Wigan are all interested in signing Cisse, who is currently on loan at Sunderland from Marseille.

  7. They gotta be kidding!!!! Theywant Eto for £20 million... They must be outta their mind and they look like they are going so cheap. Can't they see that he scored 23 goals already. They must double that price up if they wanna stand any chance of signing eto. Cuz I'm tell ya right now. Eto will sign for just half of that price to go to Milan instead of coming to a team with no history!!!
But Money can do it like it did it with Robinho. They better think about dropping at least £40 or 50 million to just have a chance in the business. WHAT A CHEAP @#$%
