Tue 18 Mar, 03:00 PM

Wycombe midfielder Matt Bloomfield has revealed he is "absolutely gutted" after being ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.Bloomfield suffered damage to his cruciate ligaments in the recent home win against Darlington, and exploratory surgery has revealed that he will miss the rest of the current campaign.

"I wasn't expecting this," Bloomfield admitted to the Chairboys' official website. "My first question when I came round from the operation was: 'Will I be able to play again this season?,' but then the doctors told me the bad news.

"I'm absolutely gutted to be missing so many important games - it'll be torture watching the lads play without being able to help them."

The former Ipswich player could be out for at least six months, which would rule him out for the start of next season.
