Cheltenham Town boss Keith Downing has praised on-loan striker Steve Brooker after Bristol City recalled the in-form hitman.Downing lavished praise on the 26-year-old, who's five goals in six games for the League One strugglers helped them climb clear of the drop-zone.

Brooker had just signed an extension, which would have kept him at Whaddon Road until April 12. However, Bristol City invoked a 24-hour recall clause to take him back to Ashton Gate.

Downing told the club's official website: "Steve has done fantastically well for us so it's not really a surprise that City want him back.

"I would like to thank both Steve and Bristol City for their support in making it happen."
