Tue 18 Mar, 12:00 PM

Veteran Portuguese playmaker Luis Figo has poured cold water on speculation that he is in talks to join ambitious Championship outfit QPR.Reports have claimed that the 35-year-old could leave Inter Milan to join the Loftus Road revolution in the summer.

But the former Barcelona and Real Madrid star, who has made 15 Serie A appearances for Inter this season, has scotched the speculation.

"I am surprised by these stories," Figo told the Lusa news agency.

"It is not true that I am negotiating my arrival in England, as has been published in the press."

Figo also confirmed that Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has tried to persuade him to return to the international squad for Euro 2008.

He retired at the end of the 2006 World Cup finals and has stressed that he has no plans to reverse his decision.

"I have decided on my exit at this time and I will not change my decision," added Figo.

Acknowledging discussions with Scolari, Figo said: "Those talks are private and not of interest to the public."
