Tue 18 Mar, 07:00 PM

Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has defended the position of boss Mark Stimson, despite the club now sitting four points adrift of survival.Scally insists that Stimson is not under pressure and has had to contend with difficult circumstances since taking over in November.

He told BBC Radio Kent: "Mark has come into a very difficult situation, he has had a lot of internal politics to deal with - there have been a number of players that have caused a few problems around the club which is unacceptable.

"You do not sack a manager after four months."
