Holloway out to restore passion

Tue 18 Mar, 02:00 PM

Leicester manager Ian Holloway wants his current crop of players to become the next generation of legends by restoring passion to the club.Holloway revealed favourites Steve Walsh, Muzzy Izzet and Gerry Taggart have all been doing their bit behind the scenes in City's bid to stave off relegation.

On the eve of the 4-1 win at West Brom, Izzet sent Holloway a good luck message while Walsh used his column in the local newspaper to issue a rallying call to Foxes fans ahead of the trip to The Hawthorns.

Holloway is determined to bring back the passion those players had for the Leicester shirt and said: "I am not sure we have had players here like there used to be. If you see our old players - I had a text message from Muzzy Izzet saying 'all the best Ollie' going into Saturday's game - we have some fantastic players around the place.

"Look at Walshy and (reserve-team manager) Gerry Taggart, who care so much about this club. I have to make sure this new crop do as well.

"The lads have to understand that Leicester City means so much to these people who buy a ticket every week. That passion has been lacking here over the last few years and we have to bring it back."
