Rosenior: Royals will survive

Tue 18 Mar, 06:00 PM

Reading defender Liam Rosenior is confident the Royals can survive this season's Premier League relegation battle.Steve Coppell's side sit 15th in the table and are only three points clear of the drop zone after suffering a 2-1 defeat at Liverpool last weekend.

However, Rosenior - who has impressed for Reading in the current campaign - is convinced he and his team-mates can move away from danger in the final eight games of the season.

Prior to their defeat at Anfield, Reading had recorded back-to-back victories against Middlesbrough and Manchester City and Rosenior is demanding a return to that form against fellow strugglers Birmingham at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

"Saturday's game is a big one, but they all are," Rosenior told Reading's official website.

"With 24 points available, we want to get 12, then we know we'll be safe.

"Looking at the performance at Liverpool, I'd be surprised if we don't manage to do it. 40 (points) is the aim, then we won't have to rely on favours from anybody else.

"This is the top league in the world, and we're good enough to be here, I'm sure we will still be here.

"We've got six points from three games and to me that's Championship-winning form. If we keep that going to the end of the season we'll be fine."
