Simpson backs Hibbert to fire

Tue 18 Mar, 02:30 PM

Shrewsbury boss Paul Simpson is backing Dave Hibbert to rediscover his form after scoring his first goal in eight games against Macclesfield."He's shown he can score goals," Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire. "Maybe this is the chance for him now. He was a big threat at Macclesfield, and I'm sure he can get scoring again."

Striker Hibbert has 11 goals so far this season, seven of which came before mid-October in a blistering start to the campaign.

Simpson, after his first game in charge of the Shrews, feels that the sides lack of experience is affecting the side's attempts to stave off relegation.

"We are a very young side and we could do with some experience," Simpson said. "A bit of spine that can grind out results and knows how to win games."

The Shrews are nine points clear of the relegation zone but have failed to win any of their last 10 games, seeing their lead overturned by the Silkmen in three minutes on Saturday.
