David Ellis is to stay on as France's defence coach at least until the end of 2008.
The Englishman, who joined Les Bleus' backroom staff in October 2001, was retained after the World Cup by new head coach Marc Lievremont.
Ellis played a key role in France's RBS 6 Nations Championship campaign and will remain with the squad for their summer and autumn Test matches.
"David will come with us on the tour to Australia," said Jean Dunyach, Les Bleus' assistant manager and the vice-president of the French Rugby Federation.
"And he will also be with us for the autumn internationals.
"He is counting on staying with us and we wish to keep him."
Yorkshireman Ellis is under contract at Top 14 side Brive until the end of the season.
