Figo Plays Down QPR Talks

Tue 18 Mar, 03:09 PM

Inter Milan winger Luis Figo has quashed speculation he is negotiating a move to QPR.

The 35-year-old, who is under contract with the Serie A leaders until June, has been linked with a move to Loftus Road but has dismissed the reports.

The former Portugal captain said: "My future in England? At this time there are no negotiations with Queens Park Rangers despite what the newspapers say.

"Right now I'm at Inter and we will try to end the season in the best possible way. This is my only aim at this time."

Earlier this month, Inter president Massimo Moratti confirmed he wanted Figo to remain at the San Siro for another season.

Moratti revealed he would be offering the ex-Barcelona and Real Madrid star a contract extension.

Figo also confirmed that Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has tried to persuade him to return to the international squad for Euro 2008.

He retired at the end of the 2006 World Cup finals and has stressed that he has no plans to reverse his decision.

"I have decided on my exit at this time and I will not change my decision," added Figo.

Acknowledging discussions with Scolari, Figo said: "Those talks are private and not of interest to the public."
