Jamie Murray and Max Mirnyi recorded a highly impressive 7-6 (4) 6-4 victory over Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra to move into the quarter-finals of the ATP Indian Wells doubles event.

The Scot and his Belarusian partner will now face the world number one pairing - the Bryan brothers - in the last eight if the Americans can defeat Jeff Coetzee and Wesley Moodie in their second round contest.

The victory is a significant scalp for Murray and Mirnyi as Clement and Llodra are the current Wimbledon champions and also got to the final of the Australian Open earlier this year.

In the first round, Murray and Mirnyi, who are unseeded, beat Ivan Ljubicic and Tommy Robredo (two former top five singles players) in the first round.
