Australia's Graeme Brown of the Rabobank team won the 64th Nokere Koerse cycle race on a brilliantly sunny day in Belgium.
Belgium's Staf Scheirlinkx (Silence-Lotto) and France's Jean Zen (Palmans Cras) broke away from the pack early on, but were reeled in with 25 km of the 192.9km course left to go and subsequently faded. Another Belgian, Frank Vandenbroucke of the Cinelli team, took up the pace, but also faded away before the end.
That left expert sprinter Brown with an opportunity to grab the victory, powering ahead of Britain's Ben Swift (Katusha) and France's Sebastien Chavanel (Francaise des Jeux).
Nokere Koerse results:
1. Grame Brown (Aus) - Rabobank
