Burnley duo Kyle Lafferty and Stanislav Varga are missing but Clarke Carlisle will return for the trip to Southampton on Saturday.Northern Ireland striker Lafferty has had his appendix removed in an emergency operation, while Varga now requires surgery on a problematic foot injury.

But Clarets boss Owen Coyle will have centre-half Carlisle available again after completing a three-match suspension for his red card in last month's 2-1 derby defeat at Preston.

Carlisle is hoping to return to the starting line-up at St Mary's, but faces added competition from fit-again Michael Duff.

Duff, who was named on the bench last weekend, has recovered from the multiple knee ligament damage he suffered at the end of September.
