Administrator Jeremy Bleazard has warned Rotherham face liquidation should a buyer not be found by 5pm on Friday. The club owe an unspecified sum of money to the Inland Revenue and fell into administration in March for the second time in three seasons.
Former directors Dino Maccio and Alan Cartledge are rumoured to have a bid ready for takeover and manager Mark Robins has called for the problem to be resolved as a matter of urgency.
"A lot of people care very deeply about this club," he told BBC Radio Sheffield. "We've got to get things sorted out and resolved as quickly as possible."
The club, who have dropped out of the play-off picture after having 10 points deducted for going into administration, are set to face Dagenham on Saturday.
Cartledge is confident the bid will be able to keep football at Millmoor after positive discussions with the Booth family, who own the troubled League Two club's stadium.
He told the Sheffield Star: "We have had good, constructive discussions and have secured a financial commitment in recognition of our plans which we are confident will give us a platform to enable football to continue to be played at the ground - something we believe the majority of Millers fans want.
"We are delighted the Booth family, who have played a significant part in Rotherham's history, recognise we can deliver a new future."
