Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies has revealed he is hopeful of making three key signings for the Rugby Park club before the end of the season.Jefferies has had talks with Airdrie United striker Allan Russell and Gretna midfielder Gavin Skelton while also holding further discussions with midfielder Mehdi Taouil's agents over a longer deal with the club.
"We're due to have further talks with Allan. We're close, although we won't say anything as there is always a possibility it won't happen. Talks are ongoing," said Jefferies.
"Skelton is someone I have had a chat to. The situation at Gretna is well known, but he has caught my eye.
"He's consistent every week and can play just about anywhere down the left side.
"He has one or two other offers, but he called the other day to see he wanted another chat.
"I think it is only right that we wait until we play Gretna again, but, without saying we are going to sign him, we are in further talks.
"Money has not been spoken about, but he knows he won't get any worse than he is on. The signs are encouraging.
"I've had a chat with Mehdi's agent. The lad is keen to stay. He's had two or three offers but has to weigh things up.
"The thing to our advantage is that he's playing here.
"Mehdi would love to stay, but I have laid it on the line we can only do so much with our budgets.
"He knows he's at a stage where, if he plays well here for a couple of years, he'll get a big club anyway and he could also get back on to the international scene.
"Sometimes, you have to make one or two sacrifices to get somewhere."
