PFA to discuss Chester City duo

Fri 18 Apr, 05:30 PM

The Professional Footballers' Association will meet Chester officials in a bid to clarify the positions of Tony Dinning and Paul Butler. It was thought Dinning and Butler had been suspended by the League Two club following a disagreement with manager Simon Davies.

However, it now transpires that was not the case.

Instead, although Davies himself stated the pair were suspended earlier this week, it has now been confirmed they simply requested the pair stay away from the Deva Stadium for the remainder of the week and play no part in Chester's battle to avoid relegation to the Conference.

Dinning and Butler have accepted the stance as being in the best short-term interests of all concerned but they are seeking to establish what role they have at the club, which they are still committed to, having a year left on their present contract.

"We will be going into Chester next week to discuss the whole situation fully with the club and clarify the precise position," confirmed PFA deputy chief executive Mick McGuire.
