'Lunatic' Fletcher Feels Frustrated

Fri 18 Apr, 08:09 AM

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has become a "mental fan" as he recovers from a knee injury.

The Scotland international will watch at Ewood Park on Saturday where Blackburn provide the opposition.

Fletcher has found it hard to watch United after suffering the setback playing for Scotland last month.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side are chasing glory on two fronts - the retention of their Premier League title, not to mention getting their hands on the Champions League trophy.

Fletcher said: "I have turned into a mental fan now I am not on the pitch.

"I find myself in the directors boss questioning referees' decisions.

"I really need to calm down. People are looking at me and wondering 'who is that lunatic?'

"But it is just getting to that stage where the club want to achieve so many things.

"I am desperate to get back but have to make do with being in the crowd, so that is frustrating."

Fletcher is halfway through his expected six week lay-off and making a good recovery.

However he finds managing a knee injury in the company of his twin 13-month-old boys Jack and Tyler an interesting exercise.

"They do help you take your mind off things," he said. They are great and I am loving every minute with them.

"My hard work starts in the afternoon. I go to training for a rest!

"The first week was a bit difficult at home but after that I could move around.

"One of them would be on the couch and the other one heading for the window, so you need your wits about you. Mind you I can't go chasing them too much."

Cristiano Ronaldo will be aiming to improve his astonishing 38-goal tally at Blackburn and Fletcher added: "He is having one of the best seasons people have ever seen.

"You look at the goals he has scored and his performances, they have been fantastic.

"But I think he will be the first to say he has got great help from the players around him."

Meanwhile defender Nemanja Vidic could return to the side after being sidelined with a knee injury.
