Borussia Dortmund legend Karl-Heinz Riedle believes his ex-club can upset the form book and beat Bayern Munich in the German Cup final.

The former striker, who also played for Liverpool and Fulham, thinks Dortmund should forget their woes in the Bundesliga and focus entirely on picking up some silverware.

The northern side lost 5-0 to Bayern last weekend yet Riedle thnks the league leaders' recent results have flattered them.

"Given their unsatisfactory league situation - 13th is much too low - Dortmund should concentrate on this match. If they are to win, everything must be at 100 percent. They are the underdog, no question," said Riedle in a column for eurosport.yahoo.de.

"Nevertheless, I believe in Dortmund. Let's be honest: Bayern needed a huge amount of fortune to reach the UEFA Cup semi-final.

"The matches against Getafe were not very convincing and even last weekend's 5-0 result didn't reflect the game. It was just a match where everything went perfectly for Bayern. If everything works for Dortmund on Saturday they can create a sensation.

"Nobody would have bet a cent on us in the 1997 Champions League final. In the run-up we lost 5-0 to Karlruhe.

"The big win from last week could also be in the Bayern players' heads, so they might be complacent. It might not happen, but it is possible.

"Dortmund are not having a good season but Thomas Doll can field a squad which is able to beat Bayern. Last Sunday Dortmund were awful but Christian Wörns and company cannot allow this to happen again."
