Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has insisted that manager Avram Grant retains the full support of the club, despite repeated rumours he will be asked to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.
The Israeli took over from Jose Mourinho in September, but has struggled to win over the Chelsea fans who idolised his predecessor.
Despite making a strong start to his Stamford Bridge tenure, Grant's stock has plummeted in recent weeks following the Carling Cup final defeat to Tottenham and the shock FA Cup exit at Barnsley.
Grant has been jeered on regular occasions by Chelsea's fans, and saw his team booed off the pitch after the 1-1 home draw against Wigan on Monday that handed the title race initiative to Manchester United.
Chelsea closed the gap on United to two points with victory at Everton on Thursday night, but Grant bemused onlookers at his post-match press conference by delivering a series of monosyllabic answers.
Speculation is rife that he will leave the club in the summer, but Kenyon insists he is going nowhere.
"The club is developing under Avram," Kenyon told the Daily Mirror.
"We are not doing badly on the pitch and aren't going to jump to conclusions because of occasional losses.
"The manager has a long-term contract with the club and we hope he will see it through to the end.
"Grant took over in September and signed a four-year deal. There is no reason to talk about his possible departure."
In spite of his apparent unpopularity, Grant has managed to keep Chelsea in the title race and steer the club to the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Liverpool.
