Rugby star Cipriani breaks leg

Sun 18 May, 05:41 PM

LONDON (AFP) - Danny Cipriani is likely to miss England's tour of New Zealand after suffering a suspected dislocated ankle during Wasps' Premiership play-off semi-final victory over Bath on Sunday.

Cipriani sustained the injury when he was tackled by Olly Barkley and cried out in pain as he found himself at the bottom of a ruck in the 49th minute at Adams Park.

The Wasps fly-half was given oxygen treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off and taken to hospital.

Cipriani was set to start in the number 10 jersey against the All Blacks but if Wasps' worst fears are realised he now faces a lengthy spell of rehabilitation.

Wasps star Lawrence Dallaglio feared the injury was a dislocated ankle and he said: "It's a nasty injury and no-one likes to see it. Danny's got a bright future and we wish him all the best."
