Reading chairman Sir John Madejski insists the club's new manager will be given every opportunity to succeed next season.
The Royals are currently on the search for a manager following Steve Coppell`s departure and Madejski is looking for a period of stability.
He told the club's official website: "We've been very lucky to have Steve for a long time, that's rare in football, we've had continuity and we want to carry that on.
"We get the parachute payments and this is the last season we get them so we'll have to cut our coat according to the cloth.
"We've got a lot going for us, we have a vibrant academy with a lot of talent that has been out on loan this season.
"We're in a very good position going forward. It will be incumbent on the manager who comes in but I think we've got the squad to do it."
