Nasri: Wenger going nowhere

Mon, 18 May 15:30:21 2009

Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri maintains there is "no question" of manager Arsene Wenger leaving his "project" at the Emirates Stadium anytime soon.

The future of the Gunners boss, contracted until 2011, has been called into question following comments made to a French television station that the prospect of linking up with Real Madrid presidential candidate Florentino Perez would be "interesting for any coach".

Despite all of the speculation, Nasri, the 21-year-old signed from Marseille last summer, is adamant Wenger is going nowhere.

"There is no question of him leaving," Nasri said in an interview with French website www.sport365.fr.

"I know that he still has a project for two years and he is counting on allowing Arsenal to rediscover its glorious past."

Nasri added: "I am lucky to be managed by someone who trusts me and everything is good with my team-mates, who are top players."

  2. When I was growing up we didn't win the league for 18 years. Fans today have been spoilt. The things that Arsenal have achieved in the last 12 years on the pitch are due to the brillience of Arsene Wenger,
They however are nothing compaired to the marvels off the pitch. the world class facilities are the envy of everyone. Of course Arsene has had to work under restrictions !!!! Of course there are players that at a different time in the clubs history, he would have broken the bank to bring to Arsenal.

But he will not moan or whinge about his lott, he will try with what he has got.

White hart lane and other prem redevelopments will remain on paper. The Emirates has been built. If we are the generation that has to pay for that ( with few or no trophies ) then so be it. The long tern future has never looked better.

  3. Lee Dixon, arsenal fans pay good money to watch good football and win trophies. we play one style only and it has been counter attacked so that dont work. secondly, the fans demand success and why shouldnt they?
we are not supporters of shares or wenger fanatics, we want to have more than just pass and pass and pass with no end product. this is what don howe was renowned for. Arsenal fans have been taking bets as to whether the team will shoot or not? that is why we are not happy, and the lies, nobody tells us anything!

  5. As Manager, Arsene Wenger is ultimately responsible for want is happening to Arsenal during his watch, but to be fair in our assessment of the disappointing four seasons, the bulk of the blame should be directed to the laizze- faire attitude of the players. It seems many of them cant handle the pressure of the English Premiership - the most directt, no non-sense, hard football competition in the world! Arsene Wenger reputation as one of the very best coaches in the world is intact; afterall one can only lead a horse to the stream, one can not force it to drink from it!

Frank Rijkaard arsenal next manager for 4 years , we will will the prem and CL in 2 years with him incharge..then we bring in Dennis "the god" Bergkamp to manage for life after..look what Rijkaard did with Barca winning la liga and the CL in his short time there. we would still play attacting football under him..

  16. well said! the boss going no where and we are all 1111111110000000000000000% behind him. no other man can achieve what he has achieved with what he his now. take not of that, critics!

  17. I would be surprised if Wenger goes anywhere before his contract is fulfilled....he is an intelligent man, knows full well that going to Real Madrid or Barca is dicing with danger....nobody lasts at these clubs, even if they win trophies, (Capello won la Liga and STILL got fired.!!) Yes it may well be a challenge for any top manager to try his luck, but job security goes out the window, and the support and backing that many managers get in the EPL, is non existent in Spain and Italy...after his contract has finished, he will be free to try anything. Pretty sure he will see it out....only then he might move on...

  18. We have the same old thing every year, Arsene will not be going anywhere, he is a man of honour, I'm certain the abuse he recieved at the shareholders meeting hurt, but he is big enough to take it on the chin and get on with the re-building job he knows he has to do, he knows in his heart he has made mistakes this season, letting Flamini go was the first one, not replacing Hleb another, he gave the kids a chance, some of them rose to the challenge, some did not, Arshavin is an example of the kind of quality signing we need this summer, but we desperately need a world class centre to partner Fabregas, and at least 2 of the same defenders, let Ade go, if AC want him, and are willing to pay 30 million, they can have him, Sylvestre needs to go also, he's too old, though I understand why Arsene brought him in, we need a balance, just like we had with "The Invincibles", world class players with a sprinkling of youngsters who can learn from them, not just on the pitch, but in training every day, imagine what it must have been like for the younger players who had people like Bergkamp, Pires, Viera, Lunberg et all to watch and learn from in training, it must have been a dream come true for them, to finish, KEEP THE FAITH ALL YOU GOONERS OUT THERE, Arsene is the best thing to ever happen to us, and next season will be a different story, I promise!

From Anthony, on Tue 19 May 10:35AM
  19. Of course Wenger is staying to fulfil his contract, speculations about him leaving before 2011 are just ludicrous, that's simply not his way of doing things. You can be certain that Wenger is eager to turn things around next season and show the world, the press, the fans and everyone that his team is not only potentially good, but actually capable of winning trophies.
I'm confident he will make adjustments this summer, and it won't be 17 year old Jaquin Afriquelle from Indifferent FC. Hopefully he will let a couple of our "has been's" go as well. Better to cash in and get some fresh enthusiasm to the side, someone who is willing to fight and bleed for this club. Keep the faith

  20. if wenger goes to madrid he will not get the chances he gets at arsenal and would most likely be sacked by january.
