Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has apologised for his angry reaction to being substituted at the weekend.
The Russia international stormed straight down the tunnel against Manchester City and was sarcastically applauded by manager Harry Redknapp.
"During the game I had a couple of chances to score but I didn't take those chances so I was angry at myself when I came off the pitch, not at the decision to replace me," Pavlyuchenko said.
He added: "I know it was not my best performance but I blame myself for that and nobody else.
"I did not mean to cause offence with my actions and I apologise to my team-mates, the coaching staff and the supporters, who have treated me so well since I arrived.
"To get the opportunity to show my appreciation to the fans during the walk round with my team-mates at the end of the game was a special moment. They have been so welcoming and supportive towards me.
"It is now up to me to go away and work on sharpening up in front of goal."
Meanwhile, midfielder Tom Huddlestone has had surgery on his left knee and faces an anxious wait to see if he will be fit for England's European Under-21 Championship campaign this summer.
The 22-year-old was understood to be carrying the slight problem through the last few months and he will now go under the knife and miss the last part of Spurs' Barclays Premier League season.
"The operation will rule the midfielder out of our final fixture of the season at Liverpool on Sunday," read a statement from Spurs.

I THINK PAV THOUGHT ABOUT MONEY!! AFTER HIS STROP HOW MUCH IS HE ON A WEEK I WOULD KISS HARRYS B** AND SAY SORRY FOR HIS WAGES.
i think pav should sign for southend fc we would treat him like a star!! and as many burgers as he wants!
re comment 11. Frank that is the most boring post i have ever read. who gives a @#$% when you first went to @#$% fart lane or who your fat wife supports, dont try and tell us how great the game used to be. there is no way the likes of jimmy greaves would ever be fit, fast enough or talented enough to play in the modern game. your deluded old son.
P.S THE LANE IS STILL THE SAME HOLE IT EVER WAS
give the guy a chance he will come good next season I am sure
I have been a Spurs supporter since I first went to White Hart Lane in 1943. In the days when the teams used to play with a real Football and wore proper boots! It would be interesting to see some of these so called stars playing with a lace up leather ball and see if they have the same control as they do with their Beach ball.Living as I now do, in the Lake District, I only see the Spurs when they play on Tele but still enjoy watching them. My Wife, bless her, supports Man U...but then no one is perfect!

pavlova is a big pile of steaming @#$% but hes still better than bent bentley keane fatty huddlestone bale etc
leave of him its only been 1 season in the prem league it takes that long to settle some players have had more and r still worse than him so wait till next season then give him grief if hes playing badly
He shows great character to appologise for storming off to the fans, and team-mates. I admire anyone who can admit to making a mistake. I also think he did storm off because he was disapointed with himself rather than being replaced. Keep going and next year will be succesful for you i'm sure. COYS
@#$% he didn't storm off because he was disappointed with himself, he was trying to make a point to Harry, who is far to wise to buy his lies.
Get shot of him, can't score into an empty net
Cheers Pav, your apology was accepted by me before you even said it :) Harry better keep you in bcz i know from watching you in Spartak that you can score. Dovai Romka, pakaji anglechanem shto ti mojish egrat! COYS!
apologies accepted Pav - we like it that you want to play football. :) Have a good rest in summer & let's try to get a good start next season. COYS
I like pav, i think he's a good player and got good character and i hope he stays next season. i think having gotten used to the premier league now he will be a top scorer next season for us. COYS
I think the difference between players like Torres and the rest is mostly concentration, he is always so alive to a chance then you see players like Kuyt, Pav and Robbie K who just don't react as fast when half chances come there way.
Spurs Supporter Since 1960
+1 to that a.bice.
At least he was man enough to own up to it. COYS.
