Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson hopes to sign experienced defenders Marlon Broomes and Dennis Lawrence.

Both players enjoyed successful loan spells at Gresty Road and are set to be free agents this summer after not being offered new deals by Blackpool and Swansea respectively.

Thordarson told the club's official website: "Marlon and Dennis did well for me last season and they are very much in my mind.

"Much will depend on the finances and bringing them together. It will have to be the right deal and these things can take time because managers are after the best deals for their clubs and the players are waiting for the right deal for themselves and their family.

"It is never easy but there has to be a mutual respect there and I am sure when it comes to dealing with Marlon and Dennis it will be dealt with in a professional manner."
