Stockport managing director Mark Maguire sees no reason why the club cannot challenge for promotion to the Championship this season.County will begin the new campaign in League One after beating north-west rivals Rochdale 3-2 in the League Two play-off final at Wembley last month.
Boss Jim Gannon has fashioned a talented young side at Edgeley Park and Maguire is looking forward to seeing them develop.
He said: "We're a young side with a lot of promising young players and they will go into League One and play without fear.
"The club is on a high after winning promotion and it would be great to maintain that momentum this season and compete at the top end of League One."
Meanwhile, County will travel to neighbours Macclesfield for a pre-season friendly on Saturday, August 2 (kick-off 3pm).
