Mick McCarthy insists his decision not to take part in a reserve league in 2008/09 will allow more of his fringe players to go out on loan.Wanderers have opted for playing a series of training ground friendlies, as was the case in the 2006/07 campaign, and have joined Leicester, Birmingham and Derby in scrapping their reserve side.
Last season Wolves finished sixth out of 12 in the Pontins Central Division but McCarthy feels the club will benefit more from a series of friendly matches.
He told the club's official website: "As we will have at least 13 midweek fixtures throughout next season, we can pick and choose when to play reserve friendlies rather than being committed to fulfilling reserve league fixtures.
"The system seemed to work well the season before last so we decided to go back to it.
"And it also gives us more chance of getting our young professionals out on loan to gain experience."
